Esan Akugbe Malaysia (E.A.M)
Esan Akugbe Malaysia was initially established as an informal forum on May 13th, 2021, by Mr. Prince Akhaine, in collaboration with Elder Overpure, Marvelous, and Favour. The forum began as a WhatsApp group, serving as a platform for discussions and communications related to Esan people. For the first two years, the group provided a space for Esan sons and daughters in Malaysia to connect, share, and support each other.
Due to its relevance and the growing sense of community, the group expanded rapidly, attracting a large number of members. On May 14th, 2023, the forum transitioned into a formal association after completing all necessary legal registrations, including obtaining certifications from the Corporate Affairs Commission of Nigeria and the Suruhanjaya Syarikat Malaysia (SSM) in Malaysia. With these legal formalities in place, Esan Akugbe Malaysia officially launched as a registered association, with Pastor Tobi Okojie appointed as the acting president.
This association quickly became a beacon of hope and unity for the Esan community, providing a home away from home for its members. By 2024, Esan Akugbe Malaysia had grown into a leading association representing Africans in Malaysia. Following the first official election conducted by the Election Committee, chaired by Mr. Aminu, a new executive body was formed, with Mr. Prince Akhaine, from Esan West Local Government Area of Edo State, Nigeria, elected as the current president.Esan Akugbe Malaysia is a vibrant community of Esan people, originating from Edo State, Nigeria, and residing in Malaysia.
